Directors will be “April Fools” if they get it wrong, warns top company law specialist
Company Secretaries will disappear on 6th April, as one of many measures under the new Companies Act – the biggest piece of legislation ever handled by Parliament. Although the new law removes the long-standing requirement for private companies to have a Company Secretary, directors will now be responsible for ensuring that legal compliance roles previously handled by their Company Secretary are still performed.

A specialist with international experience has been appointed by corporate services provider Jordans as its first business development manager for the north of England.
Yorkshire-born Daniel Stewart, a Manchester University graduate, will lead Jordans’ expansion drive along the “M62 corridor”, from his base in Leeds.

INEOS Group is Britain's top private company (28 February 2008)
Chemicals company INEOS Group Ltd. is today named the UK’s leading privately-owned company.
The world’s third largest chemical company, based at Lymington in Hampshire, INEOS recorded a turnover of £17.914 billion for the year ended 2007, making it comfortably the largest private company in the country, up from its position at number 3 last year.
The findings are contained in the new edition of “Britain’s Top Privately Owned Companies”, published by Jordans, the UK’s biggest provider of professional business services and information to companies and their advisers.

Premiership football clubs dominate new ranking of the UK's highest paying private companies (28 February 2008)
Wigan Athletic is top of the league – ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea - in Jordans’ new “Britain’s Top Privately Owned Companies” rankings. And professional football’s governing body, the Football Association, is also among the Top 20 private companies paying the highest wages, at number 16.

Telecoms company tops UK profitability ranking (28 February 2008)
Telecoms company Vectone Group Holdings Ltd. is officially the private company with the highest profitability in the UK, according to new research. The London-based firm, which operates one of Europe’s largest private mobile phone networks, has recorded the highest return on net assets of any UK company.

Jordans says Get your Company fit for 2008 (25 February 2008)

The Company Healthcheck is designed to address current challenges of the Companies Act 2006 and Charities Act 2006, as faced by private companies, charitable companies, not-for-profit companies, trading subsidiaries of charities or non-charitable “not-for-profit” companies limited by guarantee.

HIPs – Too Much Too Soon! (23 November 2007)

Delay and confusion surround the Companies Act, says Jordans
The Government has today (Wednesday, 7 November 2007) announced a 12-month delay to the implementation of the Companies Act.
Provisions which were scheduled to come into force on 1 October 2008 have now been delayed until 1 October 2009 because Companies House systems and processes will not be able to meet the original deadlines. Find out more
