Companies House reviews re-issue of certified documents

Companies House has reviewed its policy regarding requests for the re-issue of original documents.

The body often receives enquiries from customers who have not received the original documents, and in these cases a replacement may be issued.

Following a review of the re-issue process, from May 1st this year Companies House said it would only consider requests for replacement certificates when five working days have passed since the original company certificate was issued.

Where the original documents were issued overseas, requests for replacements will only be considered when and seven days have passed.

"Requests made for re-issue of certificates issued over 28 days from date of original issue will not be accepted," the body stated.

Customers using the Same Day Certified Document Service will not be affected by these restrictions, it added.

According to Companies House data, there were more than 435,000 new UK company formations in 2011, compared to under 385,000 in 2010.
