David Cameron champions UK entrepreneurs
03/February/2012
2012 is the year of British entrepreneurship, David Cameron has said.
The prime minister issued a rallying call for British start-ups and urged the UK to continue its tradition in business.
New UK company formations this year will help drive the country's economic recovery, he said.
Mr Cameron was speaking after he supported a new campaign by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) which aims to show how British firms can be a "positive force" for the economy, local communities and individuals.
Some of the most innovative, dynamic and creative businesses in the world are British, the prime minister claimed.
"Their success is crucial for this country’s future so I want this to be the year we really get behind them, with more people starting and growing their businesses.
"They are the engines of new job creation and economic growth that this country depends upon."
Recent research by the BCC has found 82 per cent of Britons think business is a force for good.
