Govt signals support to start-ups
26/January/2012
The government has thrown its support behind people looking to make new UK company formations with the launch of a new campaign.
Business In You is a new initiative aimed at inspiring people to start or grow their own businesses and understand the array of information and help available.
The campaign, which is based on the concept that there is "a business in everyone", is backed by partners including the Confederation of British Industry, the Forum of Private Business and the Institute of Directors.
It will allow people looking to form new companies access to information on key business elements like domain services and business web services.
It comes as David Cameron has also announced plans to make empty government offices available to small businesses to start up and grow.
The prime minister said: "I want to encourage people to go for it and make this the year of enterprise – whether that is fulfilling their dream of starting a new business or taking the leap to grow their business, to employ more staff, or to start exporting."
Some 435,856 new businesses were registered last year, compared to 384,981 in 2010, according to data from Companies House.
