What does your company do? New information required for company formations.

In addition to providing information about People with Significant Control (outlined in our previous blog), from 30th June 2016, for the first time, company applications to Companies House will also have to include information about the intended business activity of the new limited company.

Limited companies had not previously been required to provide this information until they filed their first annual return, and annually thereafter.

Companies will be required to submit at least one Standard Industrial Classification of Economic Activities (SIC) code, used by Companies House to define business activities. Up to a maximum of 4 codes are permitted.

Use our simple SIC code lookup tool to help find the relevant SIC code(s) for your new private limited company.

For more information about these changes, have a look at our our section on the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015.
